________________ "There is nothing more powerful than an idea. No weapon can destroy it, no power can conquer it, exerpe the power of another idea." 1998 YJA CONVENTION - REGISTRATION GUIDELINES We are glad to have you participate in this convention. Because of the professional nature of this convention, we urge you to carefully read all of the following steps and guidelines required to register. 1. DECIDE IF YOU WILL ATTEND • Make sure you are available for the long weekend of July 2-5, 1998. • Participants must be at least 14 years of age but not greater than 29 years of age as of July 2, 1998. 2. The Registration Form was also mailed out to Jain households throughout North America. • If you will be under the age of 18 as of July 2nd, 1998, then also fill out the Parental Consent Form (also found on this web page). • Parental Consent Forms and Registration Forms without the appropriate signatures WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. 3. ENCLOSE PROPER PAYMENT • Registration costs include 3 nights of accommodation, all meals, transportation to and from the airport, supplies, a souvenir program, and all conference/recreational facilities. • The cost of the convention is as follows. Note that the fee increases for late registrants: US $225—form postmarked March 9 - April 10 US $275-form postmarked April 11 - May 11 US $325-form postmarked after May 11 • Any Registration Form without an accompanying check or money order for the appropriate amount WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. 4. MAIL THE FORM • In order to ensure fairness in the registration process, we will NOT accept any registration forms that are postmarked before March 9, 1998. This will ensure that all potential participants throughout North America will have had time to receive their brochure by mail. Forms postmarked prior to this date will be returned. • Only standard US mail will be accepted. (No FEDEX, Express Mail, etc.) • Registration is on a first-come first serve basis. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT AFTER THE SUCCESS OF THE LAST TWO CONVENTIONS, WE ANTICIPATE A LARGE RESPONSE. THEREFORE, IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT ALL REGISTRATION MATERIALS BE TURNED IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE ON OR AFTER MARCH 9, 1998. SPACE IS LIMITED. 5. RECEIVING CONFIRMATION • Upon receiving your complete registration materials, you will be sent a confirmation letter acknowledging your registration status. • After the confirmation of your registration, no refund will be given if you decide not to attend unless the Houston YJA Convention Committee can find an appropriate replacement. • Once the maximum number of participants have been confirmed, we will put a limited number of alternate registrants on a waiting list. If you are placed on the waiting list, then you will contacted by the Registration Committee if space is available in the future. 6. MAKING TRAVEL PLANS • Please wait until you are officially confirmed before booking plane tickets. • For convenience, it is preferred that participants fly in and out of Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport. • Information on airfare discounts will be available in the follow-up Confirmation Packet and on our web page. • During the convention days, attendance to all convention events is mandatory. For security and liability reasons, participants will not be allowed to leave the conference grounds. Thus, visiting and sight-seeing around the Houston area must be done before July 2nd or after July 5th if so desired.
