JAIN CENTER OF NO CALIFORNIA ACTIVITY JULY 1988 San Jose, CA. The Jain Center of northern California organised two programs during the month of July 1988, and both of them were very successful. On Wednesday July 6, Gurdev Chitrabhanu delivered a spiritual talk at the residence of Tarunika and Jay Itchapuria in Miliptay, the suburub of SanFrancisco. Gurdev's lecture was centered on the values of human life. On Sunday July 11, a social gathering, "Reaccquaintance Day" was organised where the members of the center in the San Francisco area assembled to experience camaraderie and fraternity. The event organised at Vasona Lake Park in Los Catos attracted over 250 people. SIDDHACHAKRA POOJA AT THE CHAITYALAYA IN ESSEX FALLS NJ Essex Falls, NJ. Mr Babu Kadiwala, who had successfully performed Siddhachakra Poojas on 18 August 1985 in Leicester and in London on 31 August, 1985, was on hand along with his group at Essex Falls to perform the Siddhachakra Pooja on 7 August 1988. The Siddhachakra Pooja consisting of 26 different poojas of Arihant, Acharya, Upadhyaya, Sadhu,Darshana, Jnana, Charitra, Tapa, Navgra ha, Astamangal and so forth was performed at the Chaityalaya and many people actually participated in it. The Pooja that began at 11.00 AM lasted for about three hours. Mr Kadiwala, a Siddhachakra Pooja specialist, was assisted in these performings by his group members - Mrs Lilavati Kadiwala, Mrs Suresh Shah, Harikishan Ghela, Sukhchand Soni, Natvar Soni and Kirti Thakker. ARE VEGETARIANS HEALTHIER ? John Catford, Professor, College of Medicine of the University of Wales, United Kingdom, reports that vegetarians spend only 1/5th the time in the hospitals in contrast to the meat eaters.
