________________ JAIN FEDERATION OF NORTH AMERICA ORGANISED LECTURES BY VISITING SCHOLARS Cincinnati, OH. Dr Sulekh Jain, Secretary, Jain Federation of north America, recently spoke of the efforts of the Jain Federation in organising various lectures by visiting scholars and Munis during the year 1988. Dr Jain billed it as a success story of the Jain Federation through whose efforts the Jain communities across north America have immensely benefitted in their pursuit of spiritual and religious encounters. The Jain Federation thus has played a vital role in enlarging and enunciating the Jaina way of life among its communities and people. For the past five years, the Jain Federation has successfully organised these lectures. Many Jain scholars and religious leaders have been invited to deliver these lectures at various Jain centers and societies in north American cities. During this year, many more dignitaries have been invited than in the past. Dr Bhagchandra Jain, professor of Jainology at Nagpur university, India, was invited during April-May.Dr H.C.Bharill of Todermal Institute in Jaipur was sponsored by the Federation in June-July. Acharya Chandana from Veerayatan in Bihar, accompanied by her disciple, has been sponsored to deliver lectures at various centers. She will be participating in Dashalaxan Paryushan festivities of Cincinnati Jain center. "All in all, "Dr Jain exubiantly explains, "these lectures by the visiting scholars have been very successful and have contributed to the process of a cohesive construction of the Jain community in north America." He adds that this task of the Jain Federation warrants appreciation and acknowledgement by all. Mr Naresh Shah of Forest Hill, NY was the itinararies of the visiting scholars.
