INDIAN RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS & VEGETARIANISM
The Islington Animal Rights Group, London organised a program, Indian Religious Traditions & Vegetarianism at The Gillespe, 102 Blackstock Road, Finsbury Park, N4 on July 04, 1988.
Young Indian Vegetarians participated in the program and served a delicious free vegetariam meal to the gathering.

A DOCUMENTARY ON TV
Mahavirjee, a
Sri sacred Jain Shrine in the state of Rajasthan, India, was an interesting documentary presentation produced and televised by the Jaipur TV station.
The documentary portrays the history of the shrine as well its sanctimony, the living ways of the Jaina views of life and its impact on the people.

SWORN IN AS CHIEF JUSTICE
Chandigarh, PB-HA. Justice Naresh Chandra Jain, a noted Judicture of India, has been named as the chief Justice of the High Court of Punjab and Harayana states.
Justice Jain is one of the three chief Justices of the High Courts in Indian States. The other two chief justices are Milan Jain of the High Court of Rajasthan and Prem Chandra Jain of the High Court of the state of Karnataka.

THE FIRST JAIN LADY FOR A DOCTORATE
Mysore, KA. In the history of Karnataka state in India, Priti Shubhachandra is the first Jain lady to receive a doctorate of philosohy degree from the university of Mysore. The Ph.D. degree was awarded to Priti for literary research work submitted last February.

DR M.D.VASANTRAJ NEW PROFESSOR OF JAINOLOGY
Madras, TN. The university of Madras in southern India established Jainology and Prakrit faculty in the year 1985. It was headed by Dr T.G.Kalghatgi, a well known philosopher and Jain scholar. During these years, the Jainology faculty has grown considerably.
With Dr Kalghatgi's retirement, the university senate has selected Dr Vasantraj to head the Jainology faculty. Dr Raj, formerly the professor and head of the dept. of Jainology and Prakrit at Mysore university in Karnataka, has been appointed for three years as professor at university of Madras.
