ELECTS OFFICERS 1988
St. Louis, MO. On October 18,1937, the general body meeting of the Jain Center of St. Louis was held to discuss past year's activities, financial statements and to elect officers for the coming year. The new officers elected for the year 1988 are: Surendra Singhvi and Milan Kapadia were reelected President and Vice Presidents respectively. Kirit Shah was elected new Secretary and Manorama Khinduka is the Treasurer. Other officers are: Satish Nayak-Vicepresident Youth, Deepak Shah-Vicepresident Publicity and Sulochana Jain-Vice President Education.
SRI CHARUKIRTI BHATTARAK JAIN MUTT, MOODABIDRI, KARNATAKA
ARRIVING IN NORTH AMERICA Mississauga, Canada. The young, energetic and vibrant Jain Pontif, sri Charukirti Bhattarak, who ascended to the Pontifical post as Head on April 30,1975, to Moodabidri Jain Mutt of the western coast of Karnataka and where Dhavala Jain Scriptures are preserved, is a learned saint with Masters Degrees in Hindi and Sanskrit and a doctorate in Jainism. Sri Charukirti, whose Pontif was founded 658 years ago in the year 1330 during the reign of Bittideva, the Hoysala king at the time. Since then, the Pontifs of Moodabidri Jain Mutt have made growing contributions to the communities in the region through Jain Religion and philosophy. The present Charukirti Bhattarak has extensively travelled in India in pursuit of promoting Jain Darshan and also has participated in multifaith forums in USA. During Dashalaxan Paryushan Parva in 1988, the Pontif is visiting United States and Canada.He plans to deliver a weeklong Pravachans during the festivities at one city and will then travel to various cities to continue his speaking engagements.
