ASSEMBLY OF JAIN ACHARYAS PROPOSE UNIFIED FORUM
New Delhi.Nationally respected Jain Acharyas, Saints Vidyanand Muni, Tulsi Muni and Mahapragna Muni, from India assembled here in Delhi on October 20, 1987 to establish a unified Jain Forum to chart a course of common activities and actions for all Jains despite the distinct diversities in language, practices performances based on the region and reflections.

Through this Forum, the three Acharyas proposed to establish a common code of conduct for all Jain monks, organise nationally the celebration of 2000th Anniversary of Great Acharya Kunda Kunda; to promote and propogate the unique Jain technique Preksha Meditation and work towards establishing national Ahimsa Day.

At this Assembly of Acharyas, many prominent community leaders Sahu as Ashok Jain of the Times of India Publications, Ramesh Chandra Jain, Subhakaran M.L.Sethia were present.

VEGETARIANISM IN UK 1987
London, UK.A survey, conducted by Gallup Poll on behalf of the RealEat Company, throws new statistical figures on vegetarianism and its trend in the United Kingdom. According to the survey, 1.3 million adults representing 3% of the adult population are now full vegetarians and this shows an increase of 11% from the past year. And 4.3 millions representing 7.7% of the population are now either full vegetarians or avoid red meat. Further, the survey points out that 1 in 5 adults are no longer eating meat at all or if so eat it rarely.
Vegetarianism is fast growing now in U.K.than at anytime.
