________________ KUNDA KUNDA MEMORIAL PROPOSED IN ANDHRA PRADESH Mahavirji,RS. Bharat Jain Maha Samiti, a national organisation, met here under its President Sahu Shriyans Prasad Jain and many forth coming programs of the Samiti were presented to its to its members. The membership discussed the program and resolved to carry out 3-programs in the near future. It was decided to: 1 organise 2000th birth day celebrations of Saint Kunda Kunda 2 Build Kunda Kunda Memorial at his birth place in Andhra Pradesh, and 3 - publish a voluminous and authoritative book on the contribution of Jain Religion, in the past 100 years, to India's strength and unity. JAIN POOJA CAMP IN NAGPUR, INDIA Nagpur, MR. The Jain temple in the city of Nagpur in Maharashtra was the venue for a Jain Pooja camp organised to explain and teach various Jain Pooja performances according to Jain Agamic scriptures. Over 400 people registered at this special camp. Various Poojas were held every morning and evening and lectures were were followed. At the end of the camp, Certificates of Merit were presented to the successful registrants. DR SHANTINATH DESAI VICE CHANCELLOR OF KUVEMPU UNIVERSITY Kolhapur, MR. Dr Shantinath Desai, vetern writer and professor of English at Shivaji university in Kolhapur, has been named the first VC of the newly established Kuvempu university in the NW part of Karnataka state. On December 17,1987, A.N.Banerjee, the governor of the state, named Dr Desai to the post. Dr Desai is the second Jain in the state to hold the highest post in a university. Justice T.K. Tukol was the first Jain to hold the post of VC of the university of Bangalore in Bangalore. TIRTHANKARA ANANTANATH TEMPLE ANNIVERSARY IN ANANTAKRISHNA PURAM, KERALA Anantakrishna Puram, KR. The 55th anniversary celebrations of this Jain temple in Wynad district of Kerala in southern India were held on Jan 30-31,1988. The 2-day program was full of various activities and events. There were many Dharmic lectures by distinguished Jain scholars, publication of "Triloka Pragnapti" book distributed free on the occasion by Kerala's philanthrophist M.K.Anantiah Gowder and anoinment ceremonies of Lord Anantnath with 108 kalash.
