________________ ACHARYA VIDYANAND BEGINS VIHAR TO SOUTH Delhi.The Chaturmasa 1987 of Acharya Vidyanand in Delhi area marked many successful discourses, activities and the opening of Kunda Kunda Bharati Institution with its magnificent building situated on a couple of acres land near newly established Mahavira Park in south Delhi. On November 1,1987, Acharya began his Vihar towards southern India and in particular to Kothali Kuppana Vadige, the home of his Guru, Acharya Desha Bhushan Maharaj, who passed away under the vow of Sallekhanakh in 1987. JAIN CHAITYALAYA INAGUARATED IN HARIDWAR Haridwar, UP.A beautiful Jina Chaityalaya, conceived and promoted by the Jain employees of Bharat Heavy Electricals, at Mel Ranipur in Haridwar was inaguarated on 16 January 1988. The temple was constructed at a cost of Rs 1,000,000 and it has a beautiful 8-sided pravachana hall. The total height including the kalash is 841 The 8-day celebrations from Jan 16-23 was largely attended and the consecration of the first Tirthankara, Adinath and the Panch Kalyan poojas were conducted under the spiritual guidance of Muni Shanti Sagar. THREE JAINS ELECTED TO KARNATAKA UNIVERSITY SENATE Dharwar,KA.For the first time in the history of universities in Karnataka state, Jains have been elected to the senates of Karnataka university in Dharwar and university of Mysore in Mysore. The three important constituencies-law and teachers professions and the graduates elected Jain contestents to the senate of the university of Karnataka. A.KMugadham was declared elected from the law profession constituency, S. Cali was successful from teachers constituency and P.C.Kurikuri was elected from the graduates constituency. The three senators were felicitated in a gathering organised by Jain Young Association, Dharwar. Dr B.B. Rayanade, professor and head of the dept. of Jainoly in Karnataka university, Dr S.P.Patil and Prof.Shigekai were on hand to congratulate the young senators.
