PROF. PADMANABH JAINI SPEAKS AT BOSTON JAIN CENTER
Boston, MA. The Jain center of Boston organised a speaking engagement of Prof.Padmanabh Jaini of the university of California, Berkely on Saturday, December 5,1987. The internationally reknowned Jain scholar, who has authored many authoritative books, thrilled the audience, both the young and the adults with his prolific oratory. There was a question and answer session touching upon current values and interests of various Jain principles and practices, which have helped evolve a progressive living.
JAIN SOCIETY OF DETROIT OFFICERS ELECTED FOR 1988
Detroit, MI. The Annual General Body Meeting of the Jain Society of Greater Detroit was held on October 24, 1987 during which time the election committee, composed of Chandrakant Ravani, Ramesh Shah and Pankaj Shah, presented a slate of candidates for various positions. The whole slate was elected unopposed. The new executive committee for 1988 consists of:Sharad Shah-President, Shashi Shah-Vicepresident, Vinay Shah-Secretary and Jinadas Shah-Treasurer, Girish Shah-Public Relations & Jagdish Shah and Amar Shah-Trustees.
HOME TEMPLE OF LORD PARSHVANATH
ESTABLISHED IN HOUSTON, TX Houston, TX. Mr A.L.Mehta of Houston, Texas, an ardent Jain Laity as well a spiritualist, on October 21, 1987 established the home temple of Lord Parshvanath. The idol is made up of 5 metal and was gifted by Pal and Kusum Mehta of Boston, MA. Daily poojas are performed and as well special Jain festivities have been planned. The temple is located at 7806 Galveston Road, Houston, Texas 77034. Visitors are welcome to the temple and special pooja arrangements can be made. ELECTS OFFICERS FOR 1988
Chicago, IL. The members of Chicago Jain society on Sunday, Dec 1987 elected new officers for the year 1988. The election judges, Mukesh Doshi, Suresh Shah, Rajnikant Shah and Kirti Talsania, received nominations for both Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee and the elections were ably conducted. The Executive body consists of: Uttam Jain-President, Bhupendra Shah -Vice President, Pradip Shah-Secretary, Kishor Shah-Treasurer, Pravin Kat wala-jt treasurer, Jyotindra Doshi-Youth & Education, Urmila Talsania-membership, Dipak Kapadia & Kirti Shah-members. The Board of Trustees elected are: Rabindra Kobawala, Bipin Parikh, Arvind Shah, Niranjan Shah and Vikram Shah.
