________________ FREEMONT, CA. Mahavir Jayanti celebrations '87 organised by Jain Center of No. California, were held on Sunday, April 19 at Centrville Community Centre, 3355 County Dr., Freemont. The program began at 2:00 p.m. and lasted till late evening. The highlight was Pancha Kalyana Pooja actively participated by children and adults. The importance and meaning of the Pooja was explained in English for the benefit of childTen. The finale was pot luck dinner. ROCK VILLE, MD. Jain Society of Metropolitan Washington D.C. organised Mahavir Jayanti celebrations at Maryvale School in Rockville on Saturday, April 18. The program began at 3:30 p.m. The highlight was thought provoking lecture and presentation of musical theatre entertainment. Dr. Trilokchand Jain, an eminent Jain Scholar and a Siddhant Shastri, gave lecture, in Hindi, on Modern View of Jain Religion. His excellent oratory and argumentative presentation were unique in blend. Aarti was performed from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. with full participation by the members, and before sunset, dinner was served. The musical play presentation, Chandanbala, by children was an excellent performance. GARNER, NC Mahavir Jayanti celebrations were held here on Sunday, April 12 at the Hindu Bhavan. The program which began at 10:30 a.m., consisted of religious ceremonies and cultural events. Religious ceremonies were performed by Pravin and Usha Shah. In Shanti Kalash and Aashta Prakari Poojas, 38 children participated in the performance. Stavans, Aarti and Mangal Divo were also performed. The cultural program consisted of solo dance by Shilpa Sejpal, group dances, Garba dance, slide presentation and skit for children. CLEVELAND JAIN SOCIETY ELECTS OFFICERS FOR '87 CLEVELAND, OH. At its recent General Body Meeting, the members elected New Executives for the year 1987-88. The result is: Hemendra Mehta - President, Jash Jasani - Vice-President, Dinesh Vora - Secretary and Jitendra Shah - Treasurer. Other members are: Mohan Jain, Tansukh Salgia, Khushal Bhaiji and Hasmukh Shah, ITINERARY SCHEDULE OF GURDEV CHITRABHANN NEW YORK, NY. The itinerary of Gurdev Chitrabhau in North America and Europe released recently at Jain Meditation International Center in New York. The itinerary began on April 22 in North America and expected to conclude on July 7, 1987. His itinerary will take him to Toronto, St. Louis, Pittsburg, North Dakota, New York, Chicago, New Jersey, Rochester, Detroit, Washington, D.C. & Texas. Various lectures, discourses and discussions will be held at various cities touching humanistic values in terms of Jain Meditation, Ahimsa, Jain Yoga, Vegetarianism and Jain Religion - principles and philosophy. In Europe, Gurdev will begin his schedule from second week of July and will address and attend various meetings.
