The two Jain Societies, Metropolitan Washington and Detroit, have released their new Membership directories 1986. Washington directory, the front cover page adoring Palitana temples is well documented and produced. It consists of names, addresses and the family members in alphabetical order. Fund raising efforts to establish a Scholarship for Jain Graduate Studies in Canadian Universities have been launched by International Mahavira Mission, Canada. In this regard, a 'Dinner & Discourse' event had been organised on May 9, 1987 in Thornhill, a suburb of Toronto. About 200 paid guests attended the event. Interested people in the worthy effort can send contributions to: IMJMC, 12 Royal Rouge Trail, Scarborough, Ontario MIT 2A1. THIRD ANNUAL STHAPANA HINDU-JAIN TEMPLE, PITTSBURG MONROEVILLE, PA. Pancha Kalyana Pooja, cultural and youth program were some of the events held for the third annual Sthapana celebrations of Hindu-Jain Temple, Saturday, May 9, 1987. Gurdeu Chitrabhanu from Jain Meditation International Center in New York graced the occasion, and addressed the gathering. CONGRATULATIONS MANOJ & SHAILENDRA BOSTON, MA. Two members of Boston Jain Community, Manoj Jain and Shailendra Palvia, have been recently honoured for their contributions made in their professional fields. Manoj Jain was awarded SmithKline Beckman Medical Prospective Scholarship, through which he conducted successfully a project in Indore district villages on the introduction of Soya foods into a vegetarian diet. Shailendra Palvia received the Best Paper Award at Northeast Decision Institute Conference for his paper, implementing New Technology in Organisations. NIRAV VORA TOPS USA SCOUT AWARD SEVEN HILLS, OH. Jain community of greater Cleveland and Normandy High are equally thrilled at the news that one of their students has topped with the highest Award in USA Scouting. The young achiever is Nirav Kumar Vora. Local newspapers, Sun Post & Normandy Invaders have covered this news. On Sunday, May 17, 1987, Nirav was recognised and honoured with the Award at a ceremony held at the City Hall of Seven Hills.
