DR. GUNDE CONDUCTS JAIN YOGA CAMP IN KENYA
NAIROBI, KENYA. Dr. Dhananjaya Gunde, renowned physician and president of Vir Volunteers in Maharashtra, recently visited Kenya in East Africa to hold and conduct yoga camps.
The specialty of Dr. Gunde's yoga is in body health and recovery from some of the ills such as headache, back pain, blood pressure and indigestion.
Dr. Gunde conducted yoga camps in Nairobi as well Mombasa. Over 350 people registered in the camp. And a State Minister along with his wife also took part in the yoga camp.
JAIN LECTURE SERIES ORGANISED IN MADRAS
MADRAS, TN. The Jainology faculty of the University of Madras organised Jain Lecture Series from January 25 - March 29, on each Sunday morning at P.U. Shah Bhavan Jain Upasaram. National and international scholars participated in the series and covered a wide variety of topics of Jain philosophy and literature.
This is the second series since the young and upcoming faculty was opened not long ago under Dr. T.G. Kalghatgi's directorship.
PAVANA ADHIKARI IN MOSCOW SPORT MEET
MYSORE, KA. Pavana Adhikari, a final year Electronic Engineering Student in Mysore, has been chosen to represent India in Kho-Kho Sport Meet in Moscow. Miss Adhikari, also an artist in Indian classical instrument, is very talented. She is the second daughter of Dr. (Mrs.) Dejamma, an acclaimed educationist of India.
NAMO VEETARAG IN AUDIO CASSETTE
BOMBAY. Rajashri Pictures, popular movie producers and exhibitors, now have produced 'Namo Veetarag' Jain Cassettes in Hindi. The lyrics are based on Mahavir's Pancha Kalyan and are written by Mr. Bashir Ahmed from Karnataka. Dr. Shyamala Bhandarkar and others have rendered their voice. Mr. Ashoka Chand Alase, a past resident student of Jain Gurukul at Bahubali in Maharashtra, has scored music for these twelve songs.
MUNI ABHAY SAGAR
PASSED AWAY
OONZA, GR. Renowned jain Muni and a scholar of Jain Geography, Sri Abhay Sagar passed away recently at the age of 64. Muniji was the founder of Bhubramana, an institution that concentrates on the study of Jambu Dweep from the Jain canonical works.
Muni Abhay Sagar was the principal promoter of Jambu Dweep project in Palitana, Gujrat.
