________________ ADINATII SPIRITUAL CENTER PLANNED IN THE HIMALAYAS INDORE, MP. Lord Adinath, also known commonly as Rishabdev, the first Tirthankara and the founder of Jain Religion, attained Nirvan in the Himalayas. In order to popularise Adinath's teachings and principles, an organisation, Adinath Spiritual Ahinsa loundation based in Indore, has been established. The foundations has chalked an ambitious plan to set up Adinath Spirtual Center in the holy place of Himalayas where the Lord attained Moksha. The plan calls for 24 Meditation Halls named after each Tirthankara, a vast library and a guest house. Mr. Dev Kumar Kasliwala has been elected President of the Foundation and Mr. Kailash Chandra Chaudhary is the Secretary. INDIA JAINOLOGY PRAKRIT SOCIETY FORMED AT UDAIPUR MEET UDAIPUR, RS. A seminar, Role of Jain Religion (JD-Fev 187 issue) in Udaipur attracted over forty eminent Jain Scholars, professors, researchers and authors. The Meet of these erudite scholars opened up a venue for a new organisation confined to the cause of Jainology and Prakrit language. The new organisation, India Jainology Prakrit Society - IJPS-, is a society with a national charter. Dr. Sagarmal Jain, Director of P.V. Research Center in Varanasi, is elected General Secretary of JPS, Dr. Jain, it is reported, has plans to organise IJPS conference at the national level. PARSHWANATH NAMED D.I.G. KARNATAKA BANGALORE, KA. The second most important position in Karnataka's Police Force has been recently occupied by Mr. H.A. Parshwanath. The Government of Karnataka has named Mr. Parshwanath to the coveted post, Deputy Inspector General of Police for the State of Karnataka, where Jains form a minority community. Mr. Parshwanath is the first jain to become D.I.G. in the history of Karnataka. He is very much involved in various Jain community activities in spite of the demanding schedule of the post. Jain Digest congratulates Mr. Parshwanath on his appointment. DR. SONEJI UNDERTAKES NORTH AMERICAN & EUROPEAN TOUR AHMEDABAD, GR. Dr. Soneji, popularly known as Atmanandji, a physician turned Jain Spirtualist, is the founder of Adhyatmik Sadhana Center near Ahmedabad, India. He will undertake a month long lecture tour of North America and Europe beginning June 3, 1987. Dr. Soneji's speaking engagements have been schedules in the following cities: Los Angeles (June 3-13), San Francisco (June 14-17), New York & New Jersey (June 18-25), Boston (June 26-27), Washington, D.C. (June 28-30), Carry, NC (July '1-3), Toronto (July 4-7), Detroit (July 8-9), Cleveland (July 10-11), Chicago (July 12-15) and London & Leicester in England (July 18-30). PRASHMARTI TRANSLATED INTO GUJARATI BOMBAY. The popular Jain Sanskrit work, Prashmarti, written by Umaswati has now been brought in Gujarati language. This literary work of Umaswati has been translated into Gujarati by well known writer, Motichand Kapadia. Prashmarti in Gujarati is published by Mahavira Jain Vidyalaya of Bombay. It is recalled here that this great institution is a place for many talented Jain students. It is a testimony that talented bright students from Mahavira Vidyalaya are in North America.
