________________ The Tradition of Sharing, one of the missions of Jains for centuries, was reenacted in the evening with a complete vegetarian dinner served to the needy and the destitute at Buffalo City Mission. The Jain Community of Buffalo exemplified this tradition, and Dr. Dhiraj and Pratima Shah of Niagara Falls, N.Y. were thanked for their benevolent act. VANCOUVER, BC. The Jain Centre of British Columbia celebrated Mahavir Jayanti on Sunday, April 12 for the first time. Over twenty Jain families participated in the celebrations. The program consisted of Jain prayers and devotional songs in Hindi, Punjabi and Gujarati. Amit Arya, 9 year old boy, gave a talk on Jain Principles and Lord Mahavir. CLEVELAND, OH. Mahavir Jayanti celebrations were organised by Jain Society of Greater Cleveland on Sunday, April 12 at India Community Center. Mr. and Mrs. Shantilal Jain Poseria, of Indore, India, were the Keynote Speakers. They spoke on Lord Mahavir's teachings, and convincingly presented that these teachings are equally essential in modern life and for world peace. Pupils from Jain Pathashala class conducted the program with a presentation of storytellings about Lord Mahavir's life, devotional songs and Mangal Charan. Following Aarti and Mangal Divo, a delicious dinner was served before the sunset. ST. LOUIS, MO, Jain Center of Greater St. Louis organised Mahavir Jayanti celebrations, for the first time, on April 25 and 26 at the Brown Hall in Washington University. The program began at 3:00 p.m, with Dr. Surendra Singhvi, President of the Center, welcoming the chief guest, Gurdev Chitrabhanu and introducing him to the gathering. Gurdev Chitrabhanu gave a lecture on Realize What You Are. The elabora - tive and often illustrative techniques used by Gurdev in his lecture was simple and to the point. The command of the language and the communication skills of Gurdev created a surge of sure attention and interest in the audience. In the evening, Gurdev addressed again and a discussion was held along with the audience, on the topic of 'Relevance of Jain Practices in Modern World'. On April 26, the program began at 10:00 a.m. Gurdev gave a lucid lecture on 'importance of Mahavir Jayanti' for two hours. A round noon, lunch was served. ANAHEIM, CA. Jain Center of Southern California celebrated the Birth day of Lord Mahavir on Sunday, April 12. Main events of the program were devotional songs, Aarti and Mangal Divo. DETROIT, MI. Mahavir Jayanti was celebrated with all enthusiasm and excitement here on Saturday, April 11. The function was organised by the Jain Society of Greater Detroit. It was held at Ericksson School Auditorium, 1275 North Haggarty, Canton, a suburb. The program consisted of religious, cultural and entertainment events. Over 500 members participated in the celebrations. PITTSBURG, PA. The Jain Community of Pittsburg organised Lord Mahavir's Birth day celebrations on Sunday, April 12 at the Hindu - Jain temple in Monroeville. Various activities such as Bhajans, Pooja, Aarti and Mangal Divo were held to mark the auspicious event. A delicious dinner was served after the ceremonies. ESSEX FALLS, NJ. Jain Center of New Jersey celebrated Mahavir Jayanti on Sunday, April 12 at Jain Temple, 233 Runnymede Road, Essex Falls. The program began at 12:30 p.m. with Snatra Pooja. The cultural events started at 4:00 p.m. and it consisted of devotional songs and entertainment. Before sunset, a delicious dinner was served.
