WALIA - have had the distinct honor and privilege of being the legal advisor to the HSNC since 1994. I have witnessed the Society membership swell to 1000+ families in this short peri od. The HSNC continues to positively impact the religious, moral and cultural lives of Indian Americans living in North Carolina. Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on this momentous occasion Hemant Majmudar, BOD - 1994 to 1997. Congratulations to the Hindu Society of NC! For the past 20+ years, I have been one of the privileged few to witness the society's amazing progress. I am honored to have been able to offer my services on many committees and eventually as a member of the Board of Directors. Along with many others, understood the need for our own community center and we planted the seeds for it long back, which has become a reality for all of us to enjoy today. We all are truly blessed to have selfless and dedicated volunteers like the respected Mr. Sharmaji and Mrs. Saroj Sharma, along with countless others. I believe along with the growth comes the responsibility and we must create an atmosphere at the society for our well-educated, smart, and talented younger generation to get involved and eventually accept the batons from us to run our beloved society and its multi-million dollar asset. Once again congratulations to all of us! Patti Tyma's write-up on Mr. Sanjay Mundra - Sanjay Mundra is a Founder and Principal of the Soleil Gro up, Inc. Mr. Mundra is behind the vision for Soleil Center, a high-rise mixed-use project at Crabtree Valley. This structure will be the tallest building in Raleigh, North Carolina. Mr. Mundra is also a founding member of the TrustAtlantic Bank. TrustAtlantic Bank is a $90 million privately held bank. Mr. Mundra lives in Raleigh with his wife Pam and three sons, Avi age 12, Ashwin age 6, and Aaron age 3. Our best wishes to the HSNC. Bhupender S. Gupta - I congratulate the Hindu Society of North Carolina on reaching the 30-year landmark of growth and service to the membership. The Society provides much needed religious, cultural and social programs and opportunities to the members. These services help the members keep abreast of their Hindu beliefs and values and help their children learn the practices of their elde rs and maintain those while growing in the Western environment. With the help of my wife and many members of the Triangle Park community, I have had the good fortune of organizing a Vedic Havan Group that has met regularly once a month (3 " Sunday) since 1980 to conduct Vedic yagya and discuss Vedic teachings. We have seen the size of the group grow extensively and it is gratifying to see how enthusiastically our youths continue to appreciate the teachings and participate in the performance of the yagya. The Society has made great strides since its inception, in terms both of an increase in membership and the construction of the facilities. Swami Shivanand Bhat and Pandit Dwarkanath Trivedi are long sought for and welcome additions to the Society. The presence of these learned individuals have expanded the services to the community. Realizing that we are a Society largely made of volunteers, who are busy in keeping up with their own professions in this fast paced world, we should take pride in the progress we have made and the programs we have regularly offered! Dr. Man Mohan Sawhney - My wife, Sharda , and I have lived in Raleigh since 1963. With God's blessings, we have had a wonderful life which has been full of joyful events. Among the most joyful events was our meeting Mr. Ganga and Mrs. Saroj Sharma more than thirty year ago. They soon inspired us to join them and a few more families in the founding of the Hindu Society of North Carolina, and in the acquisition of a Church building that would become the first Hindu temple in the Raleigh area. We were given the opportunity to be one of the seven families to guarantee the mortgage on the property. I was also very happy to draft the first constitution for the newly founded Society. I would later serve in many capacities including administrative advisor to the President and the Society. I am confident that the Temple and the Society would remain a great community asset for many generations to come. My hope and dream for the future is that someday the Society would operate a great High School that would emphasize academic excellence, provide exposure to the Vedic traditions, and be open to young people of all religious and ethnic backgrounds. ի Ք Ը e m_{b e + 2 0 0 6 Devendra P.
