Tamil Cultural Association (TCA) of NC has been promoting the rich Indian tradition with a special emphasis on Tamil culture in the Triangle area for the past 5 years. TCA has been actively participating in various local Indian cultural and community events hand in hand with other Indian organizations, representing the Tamil heritage. Since its inception, the association has been a significant contributor to the Independence Day celebrations every year, participating in the cultural program, parade and other activities. Indian American Forum For Political Education (AFPE) was established in 1982 to serve as a nonpartisan, non-profit political education forum. The major purpose of the IAFPE is to act as a catalyst in promoting public awareness & developing civic consciousness, and to provide opportunities for learning various issues affecting the lives of individuals of Indian origin residing in the United States. This learning process takes place through discussions on contemporary civic, economic and political developments and projects through the local chapters. Association for India's Development (AID) is a volunteer organization committed to promote sustainable, equitable and just development in India. . It was started in 1991 and since its inception has supported over 365 grassroots projects that are spread across 18 states in India. AID -RTP is one among 36 chapters in the US that deals with a variety issues in interconnected spheres such as education, livelihoods, natural resources, health, women's empowerment and social justice. Our greatest strength is our team of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers representing a v aried crosssection of interests and experiences. We meet every week to discuss and plan fund raising opportunities through the year, review project proposals from India and keep abreast of several current issues of interest such as poverty alleviation, ed ucation, health, environment and government policies. Child Relief and You (CRY) America, Inc. CRY is an India-based charitable non-profit organization committed to encouraging and facilitating individuals and organizations to make a positive impact in the lives of underprivileged children since 1979. CRY America is a U.S. based volunteer -driven organization with nearly 20 action centers. The RDU Action Center has been active since 2001. Past events organized by CRY -RDU include concerts by Bhajan Samraat Anup Jalota, Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, first WALK in the RDU area, and several sports tournaments for people of all ages. We have also launched several new fund -raising initiatives like Birthdays, Gifts and You, Shop for CRY and Kids for CRY. Triangle Gujarati Association (TGA) is an organization committed to preserve and promote Gujarati culture, fellowship and fraternity among members of the Gujarati community in Triangle, to strive for their progress and prosperity, to foster unity and enrich harmony with other social groups. It works towards these objectives by arranging family-oriented cultural, social and religious programs, gatherings, talks, meetings and panel discussions. It encourages arts, literature, oratorical, scholastic and leadership qualities amongst its members. It provides education on the values and the rich heritage of Gujarat, the part of the India to where we trace our roots.
