This is the cause which binds the jiva by a hard chain and keeps it in a continuous cycle of birth and decay. Adverse effects of misconception... नरदेहस्थमात्मानमविद्वान् मन्यते नरं . तिर्यञ्च तिर्यगंगस्थं सुरंगस्थं सुरं तथा ।। ८ ।। नारक नारकांङगस्थं, न स्वयं तत्त्वतस्तथा । अनंतानंतधीशक्तिः स्वसंवेद्योऽचलस्थितिः ।। ९॥ In these two verses how the Bahiratma misconcieves the nature of self and how the illusory kriowledge keeps it away from the real nature of the self is explained.
