nature, for the purpose of accomplishing soul's object, is an Intuitive necessity." The inherent teleology, which the Sámkhyas describe as the spontaneity in the Prakști, does satisfy our rational demand for logical explanation. M. Hiriyanna passes significant remarks over this and tries to wind up the problem-He writes -"Next, evolution is here regarded teleological; but as Prakřti is by hypothesis not sentient, we cannot take it wholly so. We may characterise it is quasiteleological, however hard it may be to understand that term. What is meant is that the whole process serves a purpose, though it cannot be described as consciously pursued."2 Moreover, the evolution of Prakrti in Sankhya system is not linear, but it is only cyclic and it has a definite pattern. It repeats in the same forms, hence, there is no possibility of continuous progress.
