This concept of 'Varavarikā'is depicted in Āvaśyakaniryukti like
this --
वरवरिआ घोसिज्जइ किमिच्छअं दिज्जए बहुविहीउ ।
सुरअसुरदेवदाणवनरिंदमहिआण निक्खमणे ।। २१९।। ___ In the 29th, Samayikasvarupanirupanāstakam' Acārya Haribhadra anales those endowed with Sāmāyika with Sandal who fill even the cutter (axe), with fragrance. This analogy of gentlemen with Sandal occures also in Subhāṣitaratnabhāņdāgāras, in the name of Ravigupta --
सुजनो न याति वैरं परहितनिरतो विनाशकालेऽपि ।
छेदऽपि चन्दन तरुः सुरभयति मुखं कुठारस्य ।।११०।। In Astaka comm. also two relevant verses occur --
अपकार परेऽपि परे, कुर्वन्त्युपकारमेव हि महान्तः । सुरभिं करोति वासी, मलयजमणि तक्ष्यमाणमपि ।। यो मामपकरोत्येष, तत्वेनोपकरोत्यसौ। शिरामोक्षाधुपायेन कुर्वाण इव नीरुपम् ।। .
The avove discussion shows that Ācārya Haribhadra has beautifully and successfully exploited his knowledge of Jaina as well as other traditions to prove his point or refute that of others.
