We acknowledge and invite individuals and group representatives who recognize that they have entered the United Nations prompted by an inner spiritual calling, to address the role of spirituality in resolving global issues. In the past, most us have attempted to channel this spiritual urge into existing patterns, translating it into a mental perspective that enables us to lend our support to common causes and mutual
concerns.
Mitchell Gold is the Vice President of North American Affairs for the International Association of Educators for World Peace. He also conceptualized the 1% Solution and is carrying the idea forward as a part of an educational program teaching. The program is based upon the development of common core curriculum concepts demonstrating the inter-connectedness of all things. Through promoting sustainable human behavior, Mitchell believes that we may achieve a culture of peace.

This presentation will provide an analysis of a new tool in the fight against Internet pornography. The program will open with an overview of the the problem of internet pornography. and will then introduce the BAIR filtering system. The BAIR filtering system will then be demonstrated, with a question and answering period following.

Before joining Exotrope, Inc. as Director of International Development, was senior partner in Fratelli Shannon Consulting Group. Formerly. senior teacher of English at Oxford School of English, Montebulluna, Italy. Master's Degree in Urban Planning from the State University at Buffalo.

Experience fun and dynamic ways to use cooperative play to help children from conflicting cultures develop positive relationships. This presentation will highlight one of the Parliament's most creative and exciting Gifts of Service: the Play for Peace program which changes the lives of children in areas of conflict around the world.

Michael Terrian is the co-founder of Play for Peace. Michael is President of the Geneva Group, Inc., a consulting firm focused on organizational learning. Michael was Associate Director of the Outdoor Wisconsin Leadership School where he developed the College's Wilderness Counsel Program serving youth at risk in the state of Wisconsin. He has served the Association for Experiential Education as board member and regional president and was given their 1999 Service Leader Award. Michael graduated from George Williams College and has received a Certificate in Executive Education from Harvard.
Craig Dobkin is the co-founder of Play for Peace and is also the program coordinator at the West Pines Training Center, an experiential-based community building resource. Craig taught at Towson State University for 12 years and in public schools for five. A recipient of the Association for Experiential Education's 1995 Michael Stratton Award, Mr. Dobkin is Board President for Youth Biz, an entrepreneurial business program for Denver's inner city youth. Craig holds a M. Ed. from the University of Pittsburgh.

The Parliament of the World's Religions is designed to shift the path of human civilization towards a more sustainable future. In keeping with this objective, this lecture will address how the P.R. Vadhar Artificial Limb Centre in Bhavnagar, India provides simple and cost-effective artificial limbs for people who have lost arms and legs do to landmine injures, polio, cancer, diabetes, and accidents. Mr. Naik will discuss and describe the training of new technicians to do this vital work.

Vijaykumar G. Naik is a prosthetics and orthopedic engineer from India. He has worked with SMS Medical College in Jaipur, India and the Kesseler Institute in New Jersey. He has been with the P.R. Vadhar Artificial Limb Centre since 1992.

Dr. Qu presents the "Threshold 21" model to show simulations of how citizen groups can analyze policy decisions that affect the futures of nations. Several countries will be used as examples.
Dr. Weishuang Qu is Director of Information Systems at the Millennium Institute. He is a specialist in the application of science and technology to national development. He has extensive experience in both policy analysis for science and technology decisions and in the transfer of technology among leading research institutions.

There has been a great deal written about the role of spirituality and religious experience in dealing with many social issues in our modern world. In attempting to unpack the role of spirituality, this presentation investigates the notion of spirituality as a category in understanding plurality of religions in our world today. Secondly, it examines the limits of the usefulness of such a normative role that spirituality should play in our modern society. Thirdly, it attempts to place religious experience/spirituality within the context of our modern secular worldview and look at the complimentary relationship that can exist between secular and religious worldviews.
Studied at the UDW, completed her Degree with English, History. Education, Psychology and Science of Religion as majors and Honours in Indian Philisophy. She has also completed a Masters in the Science of Religion.

This panel will discuss a series of questions for the world's religions emerged from the 1993 Parliament. The questions all relate to the critical issues of a peaceful, just, and sustainable future. Engaged individuals from various faiths will present thoughtful answers from their perspectives.
