At that time and at that period the Arihanta ( the Prophet) Părs'wanitha, (the twenty third Tirthankara of the Jains ), who was greatly honoured by the people,* the first propounder of the doctrine (every thing else is to be described here exactly as in the case of Mahăvira, down to ) possessed of a height of nine cubits, with sixteen thousand monks and thirty eight thousand nuns accompanying him ( and so forth, down to ), arrived at a Jain temple known as Kotthaa. The assembly went out to hear him.
