________________ DECCAN HERALD'S INTERACTIVE COLUMN: RESPONSE ARTICLE Is Vaastu the Cure? Why Things Go Wrong? Vaastu is not a “modern form of supersition", but is a science with a sound, scientific, mathematical, environmental, natural, life-enrichingsubliming way of living. It's an Architectural Art, developed after deep thinking and studies since ages, since time immemorial. It should not be “largely a matter of individual choice”. It is also of collective, public choice of the masses, for common good, for suffering mankind (being one of its important cures), meant for the haves, have nots, and all. The wise, learned, soundly-advised, character-clean, integrated public-welfare-craving compassionate, far-sighted Kings of the past, like Rishabhadeva, Bharata, Janaka Videhi, Rama, Shrenik, Bimbisara, Ajatashatru, Chandragupta, etc., followed Vaastu-based Town Planning and Architecture for their structures—not only for their Palaces (Rajprasadas), but also for buildings of public utility and commoners' residences. King Rishabhadeva (Tirthankara Adinatha), the Father of Human Culture and Lord Bahubali, was the Pioneer originator of 72 & 64 Human Life-Sciences included Vaastu Shastra Architecture also, which he taught to his kingly sons Bharata-Babhubali and learned daughters Brahmi-Sundari. Mostly lost and scarcely available Jain Scriptures-Books like "Rayapaseniya” (kingly dialogues), “Dharmabindu”, “Arambh-siddhi” and lately Prakrit "Vaastu Prakarana Sara” (8th Century) by Jain Author Thakkar Feru and “Jaina Art & Architecture” (1974 : Bharatiya Jnanapith) are a few examples. World-wonders Ranakpur, Dilwara Jain Temples (constructed by two sacrificial Minister-brothers Vastupala-Tejpala) in the North and Sravanabelagola in the South are monumental evidences of above-claimed Vaastu-based planning. Even right before us the Bangalore Vidhana Soudha, a “Vidisha” Vaastu Block Building is evidence. Indeed, Vaastu is one of the necessary cures, along with several other considerations, for the suffering of humanity, if implemented with deep integrated studies, discretion, reasoning, and integrity of the implementor. This calls for selfless sacrificial spirit having its root in high ethical and spiritual standards of Truth, Non-Violence, Non-accumulation of Wealth, Compassion in heart and action for Public Welfare like the Great Compassionate Kings quoted hereabove and others and not at all for personal or political gains.
