Before constructing any new house or building or temple, first and foremost importance is of the selection of right, faultless, pure, and auspicious site. Significant tests and hints for such a proper site selection are minutely specified in the Hindi section of this book. This is typical and prime factor and essential requirement of Jain Vaastu principles. Better consult a well-studies, experienced, seasoned and far-sighted Jain Vaastu consultant before selecting your site for a promising precious construction. Let your right site, from very inception be a base for your residence providing peace, prosperity and health. May you all be happy! Shivamastu sarva jagatah... While concluding With this ancient and "all-time pervading" basic Vaastu principles (e.g. in respect of site-selection, square or rectangle sites are best to be selected) some discretion is to be used in modern times. Say, here particular colour of site is prescribed for different communities like Brahmin, Kshatriya, etc. This prescription will not apply completely in present times. If so, who is a Brahmin? One who knows 'Brahman' (atma), who is pure in conduct, action and habits etc., who is free from violence etc., is a real Brahmin. Similarly, one who follows truth and honesty is a real Vaishya and so on. Such interpretation and discretion is tobe applied thoughtfully. Secondly, as regards astrological suggestions - prescriptions also, purushartha (efforts) and pavitrata (purity) is to be given preference, which is one of the very important factors of Five principles (pancha samavaya) as per the Jain Philosophy. Indication of Astrology i.e. jyotishya suchana is alright, but resultprescription i.e. jyotishya phalita is not always correct. Purushartha and Sankalpa can change it. Here too discretion (viveka) should be applied. Thirdly, simple laws of Nature related to pancha mahabhootas, which are the basis of Vaastu and those of human body and natural living, are to be followed and applied while constructing or arranging a house and locating जन-जन का sta alegelle: 122
