The land has already been acquired and the ground breaking ceremony is scheduled to take place tentatively on the birthday of Lord Mahavira this year. Shri Mahavir Jain Vidyalaya, Bombay will provide the ongoing management. Another highlight of the event was the address of the President of the Society, Shri Chitrabhanuji. He emphasized that in order to diminish violence, it is not enough to deplore it. Instead of cursing the dark, we light a candle. We go beyond denunciation in words to practicing non violence in everyday life. Can we achieve a large vision of non-violence if we continue to be callous in our actions? If we sow seeds of pain to animals causing death to them, what can we hope to reap. These questions we need to pose to ourselves and know Vegetarian Awards in Mumbai Non Violence and Nature Bounty Weekdays: In Manhattan & New York City Time: 7:20pm on Wednesdays Theme: Blending throught Processes and Behavior Patterns for meaningful change in lifestyles & values in life Place: TRS Professionals-11th floor 44 East 32nd Street, Manhattan, NY Mohan Sanghavi. What we are doing has far reaching positive ramifications for a very important section of the Jain Community that sensitivity and compassion will transform violence. Vegetarianism, Chitrabhanuji explained is not a negative act. It embraces appreciation of Nature's bounty; grain, vegetables, fruits. Transformation involves a respect for the environment. Such respect translates to an attempt to nurture resources by avoiding waste, recycling matter, and evolving lifestyles that show concern for the health of the planet, the self and all living creatures. The practice of vegetarianism originates from such a sense. We have to renounce violence. We cannot abet it in thought or deed. By doing so, we become accessories. He also cautioned that we might be accessories in nine ways: By counsel By concealment By partaking Gurudev Chitrabhanu's Schedule-1999 We can negate violence by affirming and practicing kindness, compassion and appreciation. It is for this reason that Shri Chitrabhanuji during this social occasion confimed and espouses the need and recognition of vegetarianism.
