Jai Jinendra!
Our Jain Community has begun to take roots in the Western World. The Federation of Jain Associations In North America (JAINA) was founded to create conditions to foster our precious religion and preserve our heritage in this adopted Motherland. Samarpan Jain Sangh of Philadelphia is proud to participate in this effort by hosting the 10th BIENNIAL JAINA CONVENTION between July 2nd(Friday) and 5th (Public Holiday) 1999 at Valley Forge Convention Center / Sheraton Hotel located in King of Prussia, northern suburb of Philadelphia.
A block of rooms and suites are reserved at Sheraton Hotel attached to the Convention Center and Holiday Inn, which is nearby. We encourage everyone to register either at Sheraton Hotel or at Holiday Inn because programs are going to be held at these two places. Please register early. The last date for cancellation of rooms is 31 May 1999. Cancellation penalty of 3 nights charge applies thereafter. You must register with the Convention in order to obtain a room or suite.
There will be an exhibition-cum-sale of beautiful Jain items at Convention. These booths are available to sponsors and nonprofit organizations. Please apply early for booths. There will be a continuing medical education (CME) seminar as part of the programs to bring focus on health issues related to Indians in general. Your participation will be highly appreciated.
The chosen theme of the Convention is "Jainism in the New Millennium". As the second generation of Jains is coming into its own, it faces the new century of evolving ideas and issues. We need to bring the future into our sharp focus to determine the path our people will take towards the goal of preserving our heritage while we assimilate with the main stream of North America.
Such a Convention requires a large number of dedicated volunteers to host it. It requires ideas, talents and time. And above all it needs Money. We are requesting you to give us your support in every way you can. We look forward to your support. With your support it will launch us into the next Millennium!
