________________ 2001 committed a profound act of nonviolence when they attacked the terrorists and saved the Capitol from being destroyed along with who knows how many human lives. In such a case to say that they should be nonviolent and not do anything would be ridiculous. In short, I think nonviolence needs to be properly understood - it is not the opposite of violence - but a philosophy of love, compassion, understanding, and respect. We cannot make this world totally nonviolent but we can reduce the violence to the bare minimum. It is a philosophy that we need to understand thoroughly before we teach it to others.
