incarnations. Therefore we have to saerifice (renounace) eating tuberous roots so that we can save so may living being as this is the least we should do as we donot have time for deeprooted religion. So non-violence in Jainism takes care of minute beings.
Our beloved leader Loknayak Shri Jayprakash Narayan convinced the dacoits that non-violence is the only peaceful way to live and they laid down their weapons. This indicates that non-violence is the only recourse. Non-violence is not a cover for cowardice, but it is the supreme virtue of the brave. Excereise of non-violence requires for greater bravery than that of a swordsmanship. The exhibition of such courage and valour is only possible for those who have faith in God of Truth and non-violence i.e. LOVE. Gandhiji said that my prescription for Peace is Non-violence because with non-violence and Peace, truth is attached. The way of peace is the way of truth. Truthfulness is even more important then peacefulness. Telling a lie is the mother of violence. A truthful man cannot for long remain violent. We may never be strong enough to be entirely non-violent in thought, word or deed, But we must keep Non-violence as our goal and make steady progress towards it.
Peace will never come until Great powers courogeously decide to disarm themselves. It seems to me the recent events must force that belief on the greatpower. Further Gandhiji said, 'I have an implied faith-afaith that today burns brighter then ever, after a half century's experiecne of unbroken and inflinehing (E& firm) practise of non-violence, which is the central teaching even of the Bible, ad I have understood the Bible.
