________________ Transformation of Matter 295 colour), gandhapariņāma (transformation of smell), rasapariņāma (transformation of taste), sparsapariņāma (transformation of touch), sansthānapariņāma (transformation of shape), bandhanapariņāma (transformation of binding or combination), gatipariņāma (transformation of motion), bhedapariņāma (transformation of division), agurulaghugunapariņāma (transformation of neither heaviness nor lightness) and śabdaparipāma (transformation of sound). The transformation of colour, smell, taste and touchtakes place in all forms of matter as a result of integration and disintegration of forms of Matter by the applied, natural and applied-cum-natural processes. These ten kinds of parināma of Pudgala are divided into the following kinds on the basis of their respective numbers. Hence varṇapariņāma is of five kinds, viz. kālavarṇapariņāma (transformation of black colour) up to śuklavarṇapariņāma (transformation of white colour); gandhapariņāma is of two kinds, viz. surabhigandhapariņāma (transformation of pleasant smell) and durabhigandhapariņāma (transformation of unpleasant smell); rasapariņāma is of five kinds, viz. tiktarasapariņāma (transformation of bitter taste), katukarasapariņāma (transformation of sour taste), amlarasapariņāma (transformation of acidic taste), kasāyarasapariņāma (transformation of astringent taste) and madhurarasapariņāma (transformation of sweet taste); sparsapariņāma is of eight kinds, viz. karkasasparsapariņāma (transformation of hard touch) up to rūkşasparśapariņāma (transformation of dry touch); samsthānapariņāma (transformation of shape) is of five kinds, viz. parimandalasamsthānapariņāma (transformation of one material substance into spherical shape) up to āyatasam ņāme, gaipariņāme, samthānapariņāme, bheyapariņāme, vannapariņāme, gamdhapariņāme, rasapariņāme, phāsapariņāme, agaruyalahuyapariņāme, saddapariņāme, Pannavaņā., 13. 417. 1.
