जंबूदीवसमा खलु भवणा, जे हुंति सव्वखुड्डागा । संखेज्जवित्थडा मज्झिमा उ सेसा असंखेज्जा ॥
अर्थ - भवनपति देवों के जो सबसे छोटे आवास (भवन) होते हैं, वे जम्बूद्वीप के बराबर होते हैं। मध्यम आवास संख्यात योजन विस्तार वाले और शेष अर्थात्-बड़े आवास असंख्यात योजन विस्तार वाले होते हैं।
असुरकुमार से लेकर ईशान देवलोक तक के देव पृथ्वीकायादि असंज्ञी जीवों में भी उत्पन्न होते हैं। असुरकुमार आदि देवों से च्यवकर निकले (उदवृत्त) हुए जीव तीर्थंकर आदि पद को प्राप्त नहीं करते और न तीर्थंकरादि की तरह अवधिज्ञान, अवधिदर्शन लेकर उद्वृत्त होते ( निकलते ) हैं । असुरकुमार आदि देवों में क्रोध, मान और माया कषाय के उदय वाले जीव तो कदाचित् होते हैं, कदाचित् नहीं होते, किन्तु लोभकषाय के उदय वाले जीव तो सदैव होते हैं। इसलिए यहाँ लोभकषायी संख्यात कहे गये हैं ।
असुरकुमारादि भवनवासी देवों में चार लेश्याएँ (कृष्ण, नील, कापोत और तेजोलेश्या) होती हैं, इसलिए इनके तीनों (उत्पत्ति, उद्वर्त्तन और सत्ता ) आलापकों (गमकों) में प्रत्येक में चार-चार लेश्याएँ कहनी चाहिए ।
Elaboration—In these statements ( 5, 6) details of abodes of abodedwelling gods including their expanse have been given. The number of abodes of each sub-class of Bhavan-vaasi devs are as follows-Asur-kumar devs-6.4 million, Naag-kumar devs-8.4 million, Suparn-kumar devs-7.2 million, Vayu-kumar devs-9.6 million, and each following pairs have 7.6 million-Dveep-kumar & Disha-kumar, Udadhi-kumar & Vidyut-kumar, and Agni-kumar & Stanit-kumar.
The abodes of abode-dwelling gods are of countable (sankhyat) Yojan area as well as uncountable (asankhyat) Yojan area. The dimensions of their three types of abodes according to the quoted verse are-The smallest abodes of abode-dwelling gods are equivalent in size to Jambu continent. The medium sized abodes are with countable Yojan area and the remaining, the larger ones are with uncountable Yojan area.
Gods from Asur-kumars to those from Ishaan divine realm get reborn among non-sentient beings including earth-bodied ones also.
Jivas descending from divine beings including Asur-kumars do not gain any spiritually lofty status including that of a Tirthankar. They also do not descend endowed with Avadhi-jnan and Avadhi-darshan, like a Tirthankar does.
