cannot be any true religion which may provide harmony and happiness to human life. So the religious ideas supporting non-violence must be preached by the saints and prophets of all religions. In the schools and colleges the curriculum of non-violence should be run with other courses going on in different universities. There is only one university named Jaina Viśva Bhārati Institute, Lādanu (Rajasthan), in which MA course in Non-Violence is being taught. But it is not sufficient. According to Ācārya Mahāprajña, these days non-violence has become irrelevant, because practically no society or nation is active for developing non-violence. Except Jaina Viśva Bhārati Ladanu neither there is any training centre nor any teaching institute for non-violence in the whole world. On the other hand, in almost all countries of the world there are several training centres and schools for teaching violence. Terrorism is spread all over the world. No country may be exception which is free from terrorism. Terrorists are trying to prove the relevance of violence. As they are showing, creating terror and torturing people is their motives, their way of life. As such, we are going back to the primitive age when the theory of “might is right" was prevailing in human life. But this way of thinking will finish the present culture and civilization which have been developed since long back. Therefore, all religious institutions should promote the teaching of not only non-violence but also other religious and ethical theories supporting non-violence. Non-Violence is supported by truth (Satya), nonstealing (Asteya), celibacy (Brahmacarya) and non-hoarding (Aparigraha).
Truth presents a thing as it is, which helps a man to know the reality. After knowing the real situation of a thing the man concerned becomes ready to face that. But due to false statement a person is befooled and cheated which may place him in some painful position. So truth helps a man in bringing pleasure and peace in life, i.e. non-violence.
Non-stealing makes a man earn his livelihood honestly, otherwise stealing creates sorrow in the life of the person and brings weakness in the life of the person who steals. So non-steeling is proper and pleasant for both the man suffering due to theft and the man who steals.
Celibacy provides a proper and pious lite to human being. In the absence of celibacy, life becomes uncontrolled which results into irreligious and immoral life. The irreligious and immoral elements of life may cause any type of violence. So celibacy should be practised.
