________________ 16 INTRODUCTION. (4) A commentary on the Anargharaghava, entitled Ishţârthakalpavallarî. Here too the introductory verses are the same- 37ERTIFTदेशे &c. as those in his other works. But a few more show that the commentary was composed after he became a recluse. He was initiated into the fourth Ås'rama by Krishạâs'rama and he assumed the name Râmânandâs'rama. * From the above it will be evident that Lakshmidhara was a very learned man. The expression मीमांसाद्वयपारगः occurring in an introductory verse in his Ishțârthakalpavallari is justified by his discussions on pp. 91 and 259 and verses introductory to the treatment of the Chulîkâpais'âchî and the Apabhramsa in which the words वेदान्त and परात्मन् occur. A Ms. of the Srutirañjanî ( No. 2112) in the Tanjore Palace Library is ascribed to Tirumalarâja I. of the third Vijayanagara dynasty. From this it appears that Tirumala * After the verses अस्त्यान्ध्रदेशे, तत्रोदभूत्तिमय', तस्मादभूद्बह्वच, ताभ्यामुदभवन्', षड्दर्शनी, and लक्ष्मीधर', we find स गार्हस्थ्ये चिरं स्थित्वा जित्वा सर्व दिशः सुधीः । संन्यस्याजनि योगीन्द्रो रामानन्दाश्रमाभिधः ॥ स करोति महायोगी मीमांसाद्वयपारगः। अनर्घराघवव्याख्यां प्रीतये विदुषां शुभाम् ॥ The Colophon is:-- इति श्रीमत्परमहंसपरिव्राजकाचार्यकृष्णाश्रमपादशिष्यरामानन्दाश्रममुनिविरचितायामनर्घराघवव्याख्यायामिष्टार्थकल्पवल्लरीसमाख्यायां पञ्चमोङ्कः ।। Vide Dr. E.
