________________ Introduction Rev. Muni Punyavijayaji, a worthy disciple of a worthy guru, Muni Shri Caturavijayaji, is a great name in the field of Jainology. He has earned the title agamaprabhakara' on account of his continuous research. work. He, while critically editing the text of Ac. Malayagiri's vytti on Nandisutra, was confronted with the aphorisms of the science of grammar, traceable neither to Panini's Grammar nor to Hemacandra's Grammar. Struck with curiosity and eager to find out their source he asked his copyist to copy down the whole of the ms. of the present work preserved in Hemacandrajñānamandira at Patan. To his astonishment and delight be found, in the copy, the aphorisms in question. Afterwards, when he came to know that there was a ms. of the same work in the Bhandarkara Institute, he immediately got it copied through the pandit of that very Institute. After having with him copies of two different mss. of the same work, he made up his mind to get published a critical edition of the text of the work. And at last, the samkalpa of this great pious soul has borne fruit in the form of this critical edition. To me he is a perennial source of inspiration. 1. 2.
