कृप I. 1 A. (कर्पते, कृपित) 'o have pity or merey. -II. 10 P.(कृप (पा । यति)1 To be weak. -2 To pity; पुंसः कृपयन भद्रे सर्वात्मा प्रायते हरिः Bhag. 8.7.40. -3 To mourn, gricve, lainent; अचणि कृपमाणस्य यानि जीतस्य वाबूतुः Av.5.19.13.
कृपः 'The maternal uncle of अश्वत्थामन. [HHe was born of the saye Saradvat by a nymph called Jāna padī, but along with his sister Kripī, also born froin the nymph, he was brought up by Santanu. He was proficient in the science of archery. In the great war he sided with the Kauravas, and after all had been slain he was given an asylun by the Pandavas. कृपण.[कृप-क्युन न लत्वम् ] 1 Poor, pitiable, wretched, helpless; राजन्नपत्यं रामस्ते पाल्याश्च कृपणाः प्रजाः .4.25%; व्रजनु च कृपा क्वाद्य कृपणा Nag.5.80 Ram.2.82.28. -2 Void of judgment, una ble or unwilling to discriminate or to do a thing; कामातो हि प्रकृतिकृपणाश्चेतनाचतनेषु Me.5360 जराजीर्णश्वर्यग्रसनगहनाक्षेपकृपणः Bh.3.17. -3 Low, mean, vile; कृपणाः फलहेतवः Bg.2.49; Mu. 2. 183; Bh.2.49. -4 Miserly, stingy. -5 Avaricious. --णम् Wretchedness; कुत्साय शुष्णं कृपणे परादात् Rv. 10.99.9; Ms.4.185. -ण: 1 A worm. -2 A miser; कृपणेन समो दाता भुवि कोऽपि न विद्यते । अनश्नन्नेव वित्तानि यः परेभ्यः प्रयच्छति Vya.sa. -Comp. -धी,-बुद्धि a little or low-minded. -वत्सल a kind to the poor.
कृपाणिन् Miserable.
कृपण्यति Den. P. To wish, desire; तत्तदग्निर्वयो दधे यथायथा कृपण्यति Rv.8. 39.4.
कपाकप-भिदा अत् संप्र.] Pity, tenderness, compassion; कृपया परयाविष्ट: Bg.1.28; चक्रवाकयोः पुरो वियुक्त मिथुने कृपावती Ku.5.26; Santi. 4. 19; सकृपम् kindly.-Comp.-अन्वित a. merciful. -आकरः-सागरः-सिन्धुः extremely compassionate. -दृष्टि:/a look with favour, a kind look.
कृपाणः [कृपां नुदति नुदू-ड संज्ञायां णत्वम् Tv.] 1 A sword; स पातु वः कंसरिपोः कृपाण: Vikr. 1.23; कृपणस्य कृपाणस्य च केवलमाकारतो भेदः Subhas, Ks. 58.87.-2 A knife.
कृपाणक: A sword. -णिका A knife dagger; सेवापरिकरश्चान्यत्वयं कट्टयां कृपाणिका Ks.53.91.
कृपाणी 1 A pair of scissors. -2 A dagger. कृपायते Den. A. To lament, mourn.
कपाल . [कृपां लाति ला-आदाने मि० ] Mereiful, compassionate, kind; गुरो कृपालो कृपया बहैनम् Maniratnamāla.
कृपी The sister of कृप and wife of Drona. -Comp. -पतिः an epithet of Drona. -सुतः an epithet of अश्वत्थामन्.
