(A) Ghāti Kārmans 1. Jñānavaraṇa-Obscurance of knowledge. 2. Darsanavarana-Obscurance of Intuition. 3. Mohaniya-Perversion. 4. Antarāya-Obstruction in attainments. (B) Aghāti Kārmans 1. Vedaniya--Sensation of pleasure or pain. 2. Ayusya-Birth and life in a particular kingdom. 3. Nama-Physique or constitution of the body. 4. Gotra-High or low birth. The problem of spiritual development is concerned mainly with the first group. Umasvati prescribes three virtues paving the way to salvation. They are-Right Knowledge, Right Attitude and Right Conduct. Knowledge in itself is neither right nor wrong. It is right when possessed by a person with Right Attitude and wrong in the reverse Thus, Right Attitude and Right Conduct play the main part. Both of them are connected with Mohaniya karman. The ladder of salvation means, therefore, gradual free.dom from the effect of Mohaniya. case. Mohaniya is further divided into Darsana Mohaniya (the cause of perverted attitude) and Charitra Mohaniya (the cause of perversion in conduct). Darsana Mohaniya has three types : 1.
