________________ CONFLUENCE OF OPPOSITES 309 is thus the Ideal of Life appearing in the mystic garb of the Jews, as much as Krishna is the same Ideal in a Hindu setting. The original at the back of all these mythologies is the real Conqueror, the true Jina, or Tirthamkara. The last of the Tinns is Paramâtman Mahavira, who realised the inherent Divi. nity and Perfection of Life in His own Worshipful Self, and who taugiit the Path of Perfection, along lines of scientific thought, to others. He was preceded in this cycle of time by 23 other Holy Ones whose worshipful Feet have left indelible impressions on the sands of time for us to walk on. The first of these Holy Paramâtmans is Rishabha Deva whose very name is the symbol of dharma in the oldest mythology (the Vedic) of the world. He ruled over Mahat. Bharat:-Varsha to the south of the Himavat and Bharata.varsha took its name from him. His son is named Sumati.
