St. Paul, too, maintained that as many as were led by the spirit of God were the sons of God (Romans, viii. 14). This was modified by Gayatri to the effect that his son would be his liberator. The doctrine of 'son ship' did not, it is cbvious, originate with Jesus who escribed himself clearly as a man in John VIII. 40.
