mmediately after the disappearance of the Vyan
tari, Lord Mahavira left Shalishirsha for Bhad
serika-puri. He arrived there towards the beginning Fries of the Rainy Season. Goshala, too, who had been
put to much difficulty and who had to suffer a
number of troubles after his separation from the Lord, came to Bhadrika-puri searching for him. The men who eats rich food every day does not know its taste and its virtues. He recognises its tastes and its value only when he stops eating it and has to live npon dry crumbs of bitter bread. The same can be said of Goshala. when he was in the company of the Lord a few days back, he, on account of his evil karmas, was devoid of the power of recognising the celestial virtues of the Lord. But now, when he had knocked at every door and suffered all sorts of troubles, he felt that if he wanted to effect his spiritual growth, he could do so only
