________________ FOREWORD . * It gives me immense satisfacton in presenting before the yearning saḥrdayās, one more publication entitled 'Alankara. Rāghavam'. The present publication is the second part of the above said work. The first part which is still in the press would be published shortly. The work 'Alankāra Raghayam' evokes much interest and curiosity. The first part deals with topiuslike Nayaladirmpaņam, Kāvyaprakaraṇam, covering different aspects of literary composition like the characteristics of heroes, prevalance of Rasa, Kavyaguna, Dosa etc., highlighting the trends of poetic thought. The learned editor has added his comments bringing together the opinions held by other Ālankārikās of yore. Further he has tried to facilitate the readers separating the drama portion, attached to the first part by the author of the work Yajñesvara (Yajña Nārāyana) Diksita. The same, I am sure, would be published at the earliest. The second part which is published now, covers the aspect of figures of speech so rich and cultivated, presenting the author's view points on many aspects. As stated earlier above, the editor has facilitated easy approach to the topics bringing together the opinions of earlier poeticians. One relieving feature is that the author of the work has illustrated the alarkārās with the stanzas found in the first part of the work ment 'for narrating the achievement of the great epic-hero Rama, for which delineation, he has devoted the drama 'Adbuta Rama'. The way in which the play, has been written speaks of the author as • Sastrákavi: Sri T. V. Satyanarayana, M.A., Senior Research Assistant in the Oriental Research Institute iş known for his tireless.enthu: siasm and diligence in the work of editing sanskrit texts. He is one of those scholars contributing to the fame and name of the Institute. The present work is an evidence to show his scholarship in Sastrās like Alankāra, Vyakarana and Vedanta.
