અગત્યના પ્રયોગો
વાવે તેવું લણેઃ કરે તેવું પામે-As you sow, so you reap. સબસે બડી સૂપ : Silence pays. સંપ ત્યાં જ૫: Union is strength.

૪. અગત્યના રૂઢપ્રયોગ અડધી રાતે: ખરી અગવડને વખતે-at the time of acute need. અંગારા ઊઠવો : કપૂત પાક-to have an unworthy descendent, આછુપાઈ કરવું: સંતાડવું–to conceal. (૨)ગેલમાલ કરવી-to misappropriate. ઉઘાડે છોગે : જાહેર રીતે-openly, in the public.

agree to one's own point of view. કાગનો વાઘ કરવો : અતિશયોક્તિ કરવી-to exaggerate. કાચું સોનું : ફળદ્રુપ જમીન-fertile land. કાસળ કાઢવું : નાશ કરવું–to destroy to ruin. શારીએ ગોળ લગાવો , (કામ કઢાવવા માટે) છેતરામણી લાલચ આપવી-to offer
a deceptive temptation (to get one's work done). ખાડામાં ઉતારવું : નુકસાન પહોંચાડવું–to put to loss. ઘડો ફૂટવો : વાત જાહેર થઈ જવી-the letting out of a secret. ઘોલાહવો થવો : અંતિમ પરિણામ આવી જવું–to get a final result. ધોળીને પી જવું: ન ગણકારવું–not to take into consideration ચૌદમ રતન : માર–a beating. છકકા છૂટી જવા : ગભરાઈ જવું-to get threatened. છઠ્ઠીનું ધાવણું કાઢવું : મરણતેલ માર મારવો-to give a very severe beating. છાપરે ચડવું : ખૂબ કુલાઈ જવું-to be puffed up. ટાઢે પાણીએ ખસ જવી : વગર મહેનતે મુશ્કેલી ટળવી-to be rid of trouble
without any special effort. ડે પાણીએ નાહી નાખવું : આશા છોડી દેવી-to give up hope. ડંકો વગાડવો : યશસ્વી કાર્ય કરી બતાવવું-to bestow reputation on by a
remarkable achievement. ડાટ વાળવો : ભારે ખુવારી કરવી–to cause great destruction. [words ચૂકેલું ગળવું : બોલેલા શબ્દ પાછા ગળી લેવા-to recant, to take back one's દમ મારવો : ધમકાવવું–to intimidate, to scold vehemently. દહાડાં ભરાઈ જવા : મેત નજીક હેવું-to be close to death. દહાડો વળવો : લાભ થ>to be benefited. . દાહીમાં હાથ ઘાલવો : ગરજપૂર્વક મદદ માગવી-to supplicate humbly. દેડકાની પાંચશેરી : અશક્ય વસ્તુ-an impossible act.
