Venur (k) On the Nandi pillar in front of Mahalingesvara temple. Records that a merchant set up the Manasthambha, a big monolythic column set up in front of the bastis. From the fact that almost all of them are known as Settara bastis it is inferred that the Jain merchants constructed them.
