Wicked activities such as perverted (wrong) belief, injury (voilence), telling lies, stealing etc., (which originate in the modifications of the soul), are called psychic demerits (Bhava Papa). Spiritually speaking, as a matter of fact, the virtue (merit) and vice (Papa) i.e., both the auspicious and inauspicious emotions are harmful to the self and are transitory impure modifications of the soul. But material merits and demerits
