ॐ प्रणवस्य परब्रह्म ऋषिः । परमात्मा देवता । देवी गायत्री छंदः । व्याहृतीनां प्रजापति ऋषिः । अग्निवायसूर्या देवता । गायत्र्युष्णिगनुष्टुभः छंदांसि । गायत्र्याः विश्वामित्र ऋषिः । सविता देवता । गायत्री छंदः प्रातरर्घ्यप्रधाने विनियोगः ॥ (8.2)

[Pratah Arghya should be offered facing the Sun i.e. facing East, you should be in standing position, seeing the Sun, both the hands should fold make like cow's face or bowl and it should be upto your nose's height.
