This is a beautiful gāthā describing the morning scene and quite independent by itself. We find that Hemacandra has quoted this to illustrate that ए (and ओ) could be short at the end of a pada (छन्दो. p.la, Bombay 1912): एदोतौ पदान्ते प्राकृते ह्रस्वी वा। पदान्ते वर्तमानावेकारौकारौ प्राकृतभाषायां ह्रस्वौ वा भवतः। य "पसगयवरुम्मूलिआए उलेणससि वेहंगाए । धवलाई गति निसालयाए नक्खत्तकुसुमाइ ॥ उअ ओ [= पो] मरायमरगयसंवलि आ णहयलाउ ओयरह। णहसिरिकंठभट्ठ व्व कंठिआ कीररीडोला [ =ली] ॥ ई हिं इत्येतयोर्हस्वत्वं शब्दानुशासने नितिमिति नेहोच्यते ॥. The second quotation उअ Etc. comes from the गा० स०१-७५, but the first is not traced there. This gatha, with its second line read somewhat differently, is found included in the सुम्सुंदरीचरिय, III. 245, where it stands thus: पञ्चूसगयवहम्मूलियाए उड्डीणससिविहंगाए । रयणिलयाए गलंति व कुसुमाइ तारयनिहेण ॥. Dr H.C. Bhayani draws my attention to the fact that gatha No. 1091 is attributed to Vammaitta (the first line being read thus: paccisaggaavaramalide) in the Sayambhucchandah (Purvabhāga, 1.3) of Svayambhu (ed. H. D. Velankar; Rājasthāna Purātana Granthamālā, No. 37, p. 103, J dhapur 1962 ). Some words of the Kadavaka No. 1, of Samdhi 70, Paümacar u of Svayambhu very much resemble this gāthā. See the footnote No. 6 on p. 39 of the Paümacariü, part III (Bombay 1960). 1092) The imagery is well projected. 1094) Lit. पहओ-प्रधुन: विज्झायइ, cf. विझणे in मराठी; णिहाओ is often used here in the sense of संघातः. 1096) Rather निद्रानिभसालस etc. in the com. 1097) कडिल्लं निश्छिद्रं कटीवस्त्रं दौवारिकः शत्रुगशीगहनं वनं चेति सप्तार्थम् । दे० ना.
