As to the practical results which followed the taking of the first vow, Jinamandana says that besides forbidding the destruction of life in his eighteen provinces, Kumarapala persuaded the princes of fourteen states to pass similar edicts in their kingdoms. Moreover, he declared the use of unstrained water illegal, and like Siladitya of Molapo, gave strained water to his horses and elephants.
