In fact we will try to show that instead of 'saying the jar us and is not,' we may say more generally that in a sense matter exists and does not exist at the same time. Of course it is necessary first of all to clear up our position and to defend our cause and vindicate our themes by defining the relationship as graphically as possible which exists between self and not-self or between mind and matter But before stating the exact relation between them let us try to depict as clearly as possible the view cherished by the common people regarding it To the untrained intellect, things are before us-rather matter and materiał The view of objects exist apart in themselves just as we people perceive theni--as a world of realities independent of any mind to perceive them , on the other hand we, who perceive the world are here in our complete and independent existence.
