Following is the progress report during this quarter. ⚫ We have inserted in this issue, a copy of "JAINA at a Glance", which you can pull out and keep as a reference. You can call upon any Executive Committee member or the Head Quarter for any JAINA related need. Additionally, you can call upon any member society president when you visit in a town, and visit the temple. ⚫ On line JAINA convention 2003 registration has already started. Please register before Jan 15 2003 to get early bird rates. It is $90 for each person 12 and up, and $60 for each child under 12. Please look inside for full details. Also, there is other concurrent convention; hotel rooms will be in short supply. Hence, book your rooms as early as possible. It was a great pleasure to join the Chaitya Pari party organized by Jain center of America, New York on Sept 29, 2002. 19 Buses full of members left Queens for Jain Temple near Atlantic City NJ. Mr. & Mrs. Ghelani and other members of the sangh received us and treated us tremendously well. It is an excellent example of how even a small community can serve a group of 1000 yatris. The executive committee and members of Jain Center of America, New York organized the whole event very well. Our Hearty Congratulations to Keshubhai Chandaria for receiving the Golden Jubilee Award from Government of Canada. ⚫ JAINA has been invited by Institute of Jainology, to participate in a delegation to Prime Minister Shree Atal Behari Vajpayee. He will be awarded to be a Patron in Chief of the Manuscript Project. Mr. Nemu Chanderia will represent JAINA and deliver along with JAINA's letter, JAINA at a Glance and Education CD. We now have four more Jain centers as member of JAINA. Hence we now have 61 Jain Center members. ⚫ The Shram Yatra organized by Mr. Ramesh Shah and YJA jointly will visit India to give a lending hand to efforts to rebuild devastated Kutch area. It is expected that 10 or more students will join to go to India. Wheels of hope and medical supplies project progressing at steady pace all throughout the year. Vardhman Nagar construction is steadily building up now. Starting Dec. we will have residents come in to stay in their houses. The dispensary work has begun. Again, as usual the Executive Committee is here to serve you, and we welcome any suggestions for our review. JAINA is working to enhance your activities at the center. Yours truly, For Private & Personal Use Only Bipin Parikh, President JAIN DIGEST. WINTER 2002/1 www.jainelibrary.org
