________________ LETTERS TO THE EDITOR The calendar is most beautiful. The photos should be collected over the years from all calendars and it would make a very beautiful book. - Brigitte M. Walker, St. Petersburg, FL Calendar is very good. It gave us chance to pay respect to Bhagwan every morning, afternoon and evening. Bigger pictures of Tirthankars would be nice. - Nita Kapadia, Lakeworth, Fl. Calendar was very informative for youths to understand our religious sites. Youths liked it very much. - Surendra Jain, Toronto We are very happy to receive calendar and we are thoroughly enjoying it. We suggest that next calendar should feature more of our temples. -S. Dalal, Bridgewater, NJ This was a great idea. It has been well received in our friend circle. Just a suggestion, in future please try and improve the clarity of the pictures, make them more vivid and variant. - Shanti Satra, Crite, Il If possible please write brief history of our and give more importance on vegetarianism and non violence for our next generation. Please continue with the project. Kishore Parekh, Elmhurst, NY Write principles of Jainism either on the temple pictures or create a space on each month or replace it with Navkarmantra. Thank you very much for the calender and appreciation for your hard work. - H. Shah, Las Vegas, Nevada Excellent attempt. Could include artistic features of temples in Mount Abu, Delwara, Ranakpur. Include overseas temples as well. - Navin B. Shah, Sinking Spring, PA Instead of publishing calendars which only has pictures, Jaina should publish educational materials including CDs etc specially aimed at the youner generation to understand the fundamental Jain philosophy. -Chand and Niroo Chandaria, Toronto, Canada It is a beautiful calendar. I have not been to most of these temples, so it was a treat to see the pictures of them. Please try to include more detailed descriptions of our temples next time. - Nitin Shah, Albuquerque, NM Jain Education International Please do not include Tirthankars' pictures. Pictures can be discarded into rivers and streams. It is most difficult to find the waterways. It is against the Jain principles to discard pictures into the garbage etc. - Pravin Shah, Naperville, Zl. Our sincere compliments to you and the Executive Committee for outstanding quality of the calendar. You have ignited a genuine interest in our family to visit the Jain temples in India. Please continue the project. - Dhanu Kothari, Unionville, Canada On behalf of Dr. Mahendra Pandya and the JAINA Executive Committee, I would like to thank the Jain Community overwhelming response to the Calendar Project. Many of you came forward, sent us generous donation and some of you even took the time to write a note of appreciation. It was way beyond our wildest expectations. JAINA is very grateful for your support. This gives us a lot of encouragement to pursue other projects for the benefit of the community. Anop Vora, JAINA Treasurer The calendar should focus on educating people - Jains and Non-Jains. A theme may be selected each year and calendar can be based on that theme. Too many pictures of Tirthankars causes a moral problem at the time of disposing. - Nalin Jain, Fairfax, VA Excellent idea of producing Jain calendar. This calendar consisting of Jain temples is very beautiful. - G. & C. Rosenberg, Escondido, CA It is very good to idea to keep calendar like this all year around to our children. I am proud of you to have very brilliant idea like this. Continue with the project next year. -Shashi Bhavsur, Oceana WV Another calendar might include symbols and ceremonies of the Jain practice, with explanations. Another idea might be to display Jain temples around the world. - Ila Shah, Oak Brook, IL For Private & Personal Use Only Next year's calendar with more photos of our temples, if possible bigger. Please include some pictures of Jain Acharyas of all sects. - Babulal Banthia, Greenwood, IN My daughter has suggestion to convert the pictures of temple in to screen saver CD also, she would like that on her computer. - Kumar Khona, Placentia, CA Please have calendars ready by Sept-Oct 2001. One can send out and if there is a set price, people can order to give as gift to their friends. -Naya Dashi Flipse, Williamsport, PA JAIN DIGEST. SPRING 2000/5 www.jainelibrary.orgPage Navigation
