________________ SHRADDHANJALI ACHARYA SHREE SUSHIL KUMAR JI that his journey is a peaceful one. I will miss him. Rajiv Jain (16), Laguna Niguel, CA. ACHARYA SHRI SUSHIL MUNI JI AFFECTED US ALL Guruji taught us about the importance of the Jain reli- gion. We learned about many of the Jain principles and forms of meditation. We were very impressed with his candid knowledge of Jainism and his teaching methods. The Jain community will miss Sushil Muni's inspirational lectures. Neha N. Dedhia (18), San Jose, CA. His own life was an expression of the absolute non-injury in thought, word and deed. His eyes revealed and expressed this extreme compassion for the suffering of all mankind... What is actually needed is that the societyshould be re-educated in the true meaning and purpose of religion, and religions themselves should be pruned of all superstitions and all the factors of disharmony, and non-essential details should be ignored and essential principles emphasized and brought to the notice of all. Thus, his mission was to regenerate all religions in their own social set-up. Surendra Jain, Greenville, SC Guruji was a nice and caring man. He helped a lot of people in the world and everyone loved him. It is sad that he is gone now. I have so many memories about him... He had a lot of knowledge. If you tell him a name (or a word) and then ask him what that meant, he will know... When he was 60, he still continued to devote his life to peace, non-violence, and protection of animals... We will all miss him because he is not here with us today. I wish he was still alive right now. Sheel Mehta (10), Hoffman Estates, IL. REMEMBER Realizing that absolute non-violence was not feasible in a twentieth century life style, Guruji advocated minimum violence. He taught us that "... being a true Jain may seem like you would have to be perfect, but there are things we can do in our daily lives which will help us toward this perfection. Not eating meat, minimizing consumption, such as extra clothes or too much food, are just some of the things one can do. However, do not let somebody make these decisions for you. It is solely up to you. It is important that whatever angle of Jainism you wish to follow, that you do it from the heart, and not what your parents or anyone else tells you. Kiran Jain (17), Placentia, CA. Remember his walk, remember his style, Remember his talk, remember his smile. Remember his teachings, Remember his preachings. Remember "Om Namo Arihantanam" Remember Guruji as the soul of the sun. Remember white light!" Remember his hair turning white. Remember the tone of his voice, Remember Jainism is by choice. Remember Jainism is Dharma, Remember not to get bad Karma. Remember Jainism isn't a trend, Remember Guruji was my friend. Ravi Jain, Placentia, CA. LETTING GO I believe that I took my Guru for granted. I thought he would always be around. Guruji was, is, and always will be my spiritual father. Just seeing or even thinking about him keeps me going. His presence instantly brought upon a smile. Not the kind of, 'I need to impress someone'smile, but real peace. I don't cry for him, because I know he has succeeded to a higher spiritual plane. In fact, I celebrate him. We must pray for his soul, like the proper disciple should, without any remorse. This experience, as painful as it was, is teaching me how to let go. No more can I continue to be an anchor to another's soul. Sanjiv Jain, Laguna Niguel, CA. Shri Sushil Muniji was respected outside the Jain community. He was very instrumental in promoting the most basic Jain principle of Ahimsa all over the world. He inspired many communities to build Jain temples outside India. His forward thinking allowed many Jains overseas to learn more about Jainism. Narendra Maniar, Atlanta, GA The Augusta Jain Community owes a great tribute to Acharya Sushil Muniji for he was the one who conducted the Mahavir Swami Murti Pratistha at Hindu Temple of Augusta in September, 1991. We will always remember him for his contributions to our community and the world. Augusta Jain Community, Martinez, GA. AND THAT'S HOW I FEEL I knew Guruji for my whole life. I am not an expert on who he actually was but I do know him a considerable amount. He always put others before himself. His heart was free of evil and filled with love. Guruji was a person who I was able to talk to and he would understand. I will say a prayer for him tonight and hope (Guruji) possessed thorough knowledge of other religions and human understanding at world-wide level. For the survival of Jainism outside India, he saw the need to bring reforms conforming with the modern living styles while keeping the main June 1994 Jain Education Intemational 2010_02 JAIN DIGEST For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibra.org
