________________ COMMITTEE NEWS Code of Conduct for Spiritual and Community Leaders Khushal Bhaiji - Chair The Code of Conduct Committee has been charged with two tasks: educating the Jain Community about the Code of Conduct practiced by Sadhus and Sadhvis of different sects in India and how this code should be adapted, with their approval, for use in North America; secondly, to prepare a Code of Conduct for community leaders. The committee sent a first draft of the suggested code to all Jain Centers. This draft was the beginning of a very important process towards healthy growth of the Jain Community in North America. The objective was to arouse our consciousness in this delicate, yet very significant matter. The committee plans to issue a second draft after considering all the suggestions and comments. The committee welcomes comments and suggestions on the second draft. A final draft will be submitted to the Executive Committee for approval. JAINA respects and welcomes the spiritual leaders of all sects equally - with no preferential treatment to anyone - to visit North America for teaching purposes only. For more informtion, suggestions or comments please contact Khushal Bhaiji at 13579 Ridge Road, North Royalton, OH, 44153, 216/237-7587.
