ÞREFACE.
The work of editing the Dvyâs'rayakâvya was undertaken by the late Prof. Abaji Vishnu Kathavate of the Elphinstone College, who however, died after he had seen through the Press, only the first few forms. So the work of seeing the remaining part of the edition through the press was entrusted to Mr. D. K. Agashe Shastri of Thana High School. The MSS. which the editor made use of in preparing the text are not all available to the writer of this preface, nor is it possible for him to rightly judge of their worth and importance, without a careful study of the same. Under these circumstances, no alternative is left but to print a rough note in pencil, in the late Prof. Kathavate's own hand-writing, found in his papers which barely mentions the names of the MSS. The note runs as follows:
[A-The MS. obtained at Ahmedabad by Mr. Dhruva which forms the original from which the copy for printing is made.
B-Copy obtained by Mr. Dhruva through Jyeshtharam Mukundji leaf 29 wanting for V 171 (?).
C-The MS. from which different readings were given in Kumârapâlacharita. Find out its name and source.
D-Deccan College Library No. 404 Sarga 13.
E-Deccan College Library 406 sargas 7, 8, 9. 39 leaves with 8 wanting (7, 14, 23, 30, 31, 33, 36, 38).
